Day 14/30 Be curious, have fun, keep going

WE’re almost to the halfway point, my friends! Day 14! I said I would write for 30 days around my Affirmations Anthem practice as described in Jon Acuff’s book, “Soundtracks,” and we are almost to 50% download. Yay.

What if your next big dream were fueled by these three things: Be curious, have fun, keep going.

Notice what isn’t there: self-punishment, perfection, stress, burden and quitting.

Being curious is that third door that leads into bigger, better thinking after living in the “good/bad” paradigm for so long. Who cares about good and bad, when there is information to glean from any situation in order to better set yourself up for future wins? Being curious is the white lab coat in your tool box you can readily reach for in order to zoom out, find the strength, analyze the weakness, see the data along the road and course correct. A curious soundtrack would be “There’s information here that will help me get to the next level.” “I am not afraid of knowing more.” “I can choose ignorance or I can choose information and I always choose information.”

Having fun is usually not on our list of foundational strategies for getting where we want to go, but what if it were? Instead of relying on hustle, drive, power and endurance, you’d be testing everything against, “How can I make this fun? Am I having fun?” Fun opens the door to creativity, it values your attitude and performance so much that it wouldn’t place yourself in a situation where you were being beaten down or not able to do your best work. If fun were a priority, then you’d be working from a place of story building where every day were a pleasure, lightness would be assumed and laughter would never be out of place. WHo cares if you get where you’re going? You’re living days full of freedom and joy and playfulness? That sounds like a great idea. Soundtracks for fun? “This goal is meant to be FOR me. Now how do I do it the way I want to do it?” “The most powerful person in the room is the one having the most fun.” “The fun frequency is where innovation delights.” “I get to have my dream and have fun doing it.”

Keep going. The only way to cross the finish line is to stay in the race. The only way to get to the thing is to never stop. I think it took me one year to even comprehend the true meaning of never quitting. Now it feels normal and completely me. My soundtracks for never quitting? “There’s no way I’m not doing this.” “I am the only one who will end this dream and I say we keep going.” “I love this dream too much to let a bad day kill it.”
